LG Tv Unveiled at CES2022 - QNED with OLED evo, MINI LEDs, 8K and more

The LG 2022 TV lineup announced at CES 2022 is filled with refreshed OLEDs and numerous Mini LED QNEDs. In particular, this year saw the introduction of the brightest OLED TVs to date, the smallest OLED TVs, and the most color stable QNED TVs.

OLED evo is back in LG's Gallery Series, but expanded to the reviewer-favorite C-tier, and for the first time in a 42-inch configuration. the LG G2 Gallery Series with OLED evo features heat dissipation technology that makes it the best OLED TV on the market with any It has a brighter panel than any of the best OLED TVs on the market, thanks to its heat dissipation technology. Meanwhile, LG is adding more mini-LED-equipped QNED sets with various precision dimming capabilities to achieve a level of picture quality similar to OLEDs.

Thanks to the Alpha Gen 5 AI Processor 4K, LG's 2022 TVs should have improved upscaling, among other new smart features such as curated user profiles and updated gaming tools. We will also see enhanced audio hardware and sustainability efforts in OLED sets.

Here's everything we know about LG's 2022 TV lineup.

LG's 2022 OLED TV lineup is the same brand as last year's OLEDs, with the LG G2 Gallery Series TV with OLED evo G at the top of the list, although the LG G1 OLED TV was one of the best TVs we tested last year, The OLED evo fell short of some expectations; the G2 will improve on that with dedicated heat dissipation technology that brightens the panel without burning it out. the OLED evo G (for Gallery) will come in 97", 83", 77", 65", and 55" configurations. [The LG C2 OLED evo will sit below the Gallery series, continuing the success of last year's LG C1 OLED TV with evo panels in 83-, 77-, 65-, and 55-inch sizes. 48-inch and the all-new 42-inch sizes will use the company's standard OLED panels, but will also feature the company's smallest OLED panel ever.

The smallest OLED TV in history is sure to attract attention, especially if it is launched at a lower price point.

The LG G2 OLED will retain the Gallery series' beautiful, sleek chassis, but the C2 OLED should be up to 50% lighter than the LG C1 with thinner bezels and new composite fiber materials. Both styles of OLED evosets will have upgraded sound from 5.1.2 channels to 7.1.2 channels, complete with an HDMI 2.1 port array and the latest upscaling Alpha 9 Gen 5 Processor 4K.

The LG OLED evo TV is sandwiched between a pair of premium 8K OLED TVs and a bottom-of-the-line 4K OLED set; the LG Z2 8K OLED TV is still a tough sell given the high price and limited content issues faced by 8K TVs, but the 88-inch size is wall mountable. A 77-inch version is also available. [Compared to the C2, the LG B2 OLED TV and LG A2 OLED TV ditch the evo and use the Alpha 7 Gen 5 processor instead of the Alpha 9. The B2 keeps the 120Hz panel and gets the same 7.1.2 channel audio upgrade, while the A2 goes to a 60Hz panel down, no HDMI 2.1, and stick with 5.1.2 channel sound. the B2 comes in 77", 65", and 55" sizes, while the A2 comes in 77", 65", 55", and 48". These models tend to be inferior to the C series, but their prices often fall into the best OLED TV deals.

Complementing LG's lineup of OLED TVs is a selection of QNED sets with Mini LEDs. Last year's LG Mini LED launch was centered on the LG QNED Mini LED 99 Series 8K TVs, but smaller offerings will be available this year: the 8K QNED 99-inch is alive and well, but 4K 90-inch, 85-inch, and 80-inch models will also appear.

LG has stated that this year's Mini LED QNED TVs should offer something close to the OLED experience, with a stable picture up to 30 degrees off axis. Each size is expected to offer different degrees of precision dimming, with the largest expected to offer the highest local dimming quality.

While not specific to panel technology, there are several notable updates to LG TVs. The name of the generation web OS has jumped from 6.0 to 22, indicating the year ahead from here. The interface should feel much the same, but with the addition of user profiles to curate recommendations and reach each user's relevant content.

The smart home experience is enhanced through LG's ThinQ app, although some high-end sets will include a distant microphone. The app also supports a new NFC feature called Magic Tap, which simplifies switching between profiles and easily mirrors smartphone content to the LG TV. Similarly, Room to Room Share is a new feature that allows the host TV to send signals to the remote TV via Wi-Fi.

When nothing is being viewed, the LG 2022 TV Always Ready tool is an ambient mode that displays art, photos, and a music player. Samsung has mastered ambient mode and has mastered it even more on The Frame 2022.

Finally, LG's 2022 TV will feature gaming-related updates. Last year, the company announced the Game Optimizer menu, which combines gaming settings including G-Sync, FreeSync, and VRR options. Currently, Game Optimizer supports Dark Room mode and new presets for sports games.
