TCL Unveils Huge 2022-inch XL TV at CES 98

TCL's 2022 TV lineup is taking shape with the largest ever addition to the XL collection, new mini LED sets, upgraded gaming capabilities, and an expanded Google TV offering.

LG may have unveiled its smallest OLED TV at CES 2022, but TCL is doubling down on its big-screen TV push with the addition of a 98-inch QLED model to its XL series. The company promises to price this giant TV at under $8,000. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it should be more affordable than similar giant sets from TCL's high-end competitors.

In addition to the 96-inch TCL XL TV, the new flagship 85-inch TCL 8K QLED X925pro will feature the company's third-generation Mini LED technology. Last year, TCL emerged as the best TV brand to find 8K at the right price with the TCL Roku TV 6-Series 8K, and the Mini LED-equipped 85-inch maintains a thin chassis less than 10 millimeters deep while delivering "bright, smooth brightness and precise contrast for the most It promises "dazzling and dramatic image depth even in the brightest rooms," and steps up from there.

TCL has announced that Mini LEDs will be available on many TVs later this year.

TCL's large lineup, led by the 6-series, which has ranked in the best TV list with each new model, will see some updates in terms of performance TCL is about to introduce TrueCut Motion on its high-end models. This is a content solution and certification program that ensures the filmmaker's intentions are reproduced on the company's screens. As an emphasis on the big screen, TrueCut Motion was created to bring the movie experience home. When it comes to creating the ultimate theater experience in the living room, TCL makes a compelling argument as the name we have in mind.

But TCL also wants to make the best gaming TVs, and TCL already offers Auto Game Mode for automatic settings adjustment, variable refresh rates, and HGiG mode. This year's select set steps up from 120Hz panel refresh to 144Hz for smoother action and quicker game feel. Many TV manufacturers are beginning to adopt 144Hz refresh rates, trying to convince shoppers that their TVs will become gaming monitors.

The last big piece of news about TCL's 2022 TV is that the company is pushing Google TV software. For a long time, TCL has offered North American customers the ultimate built-in Roku experience. While several Android TV offerings were also available, Roku remained TCL's bread and butter.

Last year, the company launched its first TV with built-in Google TV. At the time, TCL had exclusive distribution rights, but suffered software problems with the first Google TV models in the 5 and 6 series. However, this has not stopped TCL from fixing the problem and planning to expand Google TV to a larger lineup.
