Finally, your manicure can be matched to your Xbox controller

We don't know exactly who wished to collaborate with Xbox maker Microsoft and cosmetics giant OPI. But congratulations to those 11 or 12 people: your wish has been granted.

Today, Microsoft unveiled its Spring 2022 OPI x Xbox collection. If you're not in the habit of painting your nails, don't click just yet. Buying these real-world cosmetics could be your ticket to digital cosmetics for "Forza Horizon 5" and "Halo Infinite."

This information comes from the official Xbox Wire blog, and to my knowledge, this is the first time Xbox Wire has devoted an entire article to nail polish. The collaboration is not so far-fetched, if not even novel. This spring, OPI is launching 12 new nail polish colors. The colors themselves are nothing outlandish, ranging from pale pinks to deep purples: "Heart and Con-soul" ("a sparkling crimson red that takes nails to the next level"), "You Had Me at Halo" ("a sparkling galactic blue that gives you sparkling stats"), " Can't CTRL Me" ("Can't CTRL, sparkling robin egg blue")

and others, at least the names are quite clever.

The entire line will be available in Ulta stores starting in February, priced from $11 to $13, depending on style. After that, the OPI x Xbox collection will be available at Amazon, CVS, Target, Dillard's, and other major cosmetics stores.

However, the Xbox tie-in would not be complete without in-game merchandise. Each nail polish will unlock "hue-matched Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite in-game content" starting February 1. In other words, if you buy one bottle of "Sage Simulation," you'll also get glittery green cosmetic skins for "Forza" and "Halo." (As several fans have pointed out, this is actually one of the cheapest ways to unlock the "Halo Infinite" skin at this time.)

However, there is one major drawback to this plan. The Xbox Wire article includes a photo of three pastel-colored Xbox controllers with matching nail patterns. Even if you're not into nail polish, the new color scheme for the Xbox controllers is appealing.

But you probably won't be able to get your hands on this gorgeous accessory; instead of selling the controllers directly, Xbox Wire posted on Instagram and TikTok that "fans will have the chance to win a custom Xbox wireless in top trending shades controllers for a chance to win them," it explained.

In other words, those who have dreamed of a controller that fits their nails perfectly may have to keep dreaming.

Still, the Xbox x OPI collection seems to be an unconventional crossover between two beloved brands. Fashionable Xbox players, or their partners, can make the cosmetic code their own by giving away nail polish.
