Sony opens registration for invitation only PS5 re-arrival - How to sign up

January 11 update: According to Sony's website, registration to purchase a PS5 is still open. However, the link to register leads to a 404. We will update this page when the link works again.

Sony PS5 restocking may be a little easier this month; Sony Direct is still accepting registrations for the invite-only PS5 restocking event. While registering does not guarantee that you will get a PS5, nor does it guarantee that you will receive an invite, it does increase your chances of receiving a valuable email invitation from Sony.

However, we recommend that you hurry up and register, as you never know when (or if) Sony will close registration. (As of January 11, the registration page is still accepting new registrations.) Furthermore, it appears that Sony's inventory for the general public is being depleted. For the past several months, Sony has been restocking for invitees only and not for the general public. Therefore, getting on their email list is more important than ever.

There is a lot of competition to get your hands on a PS5 console this month, so every little bit counts, and gamers with a PlayStation Online ID can sign up for the invite-only PS5 Drops through a Sony link. According to Sony's website, those who register will begin receiving invitations directly from Sony. If they win, they will receive an email with the date and time and instructions on how to purchase a PS5 console.

If you do not receive anything, you were not selected. Sony's website states that "Selection will be based on previous interest and PlayStation activity." (If unsuccessful, Walmart is offering restocking for Walmart Plus members.) Nothing is confirmed at this time, but there will likely be a restock in the coming weeks. (Click here for instructions on how to sign up for Walmart Plus.)

If you did not receive an invitation from Sony, all hope is not lost. Usually, after an invite-only PS5 restocking occurs, Sony tends to open its virtual queue to the general public. But that doesn't always happen. (There have not been that many restockings in recent weeks.)

If there is a surplus of gaming machines, restocking for the public usually takes place after an invite-only event has ended. (Usually an hour or two after the original drop started). Of course, you can bookmark our PS5 restocking page to keep up to date on PS5 restocks from Sony Direct and major US retailers.
