There's finally a reason to use Microsoft Edge instead of Chrome

Microsoft Edge is the default browser for Windows, but many users use other browsers such as Firefox or Google Chrome. Microsoft had been making it difficult to switch to other browsers, but changed its mind after public criticism. Microsoft is now trying to give gamers at least one reason to use Edge, with one feature that other browsers lack.

Today, Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is partnering with Microsoft Edge to enhance the Xbox Cloud Gaming experience on the browser, according to Milena Gonzalez, program manager for Xbox , the new feature, called Clarity Boost, will provide "an optimal look and feel when playing Xbox games from the cloud."

"Today, we're excited to offer you the opportunity to experience Clarity Boost, one of the latest cloud game optimizations available in Microsoft Edge Canary," Gonzalez said on the Xbox news blog. This feature improves the visual quality of the video stream through improved client-side scaling." [Here is an example of Clarity Boost in action.

To try Clarity Boost, you must download and install Microsoft Edge Canary To verify that you are using Microsoft Edge Canary, go to edge:settings/help, Verify that you are using version 96.0.1033.0 or later; to enable Clarity Boost, select thewww.xbox.com/playにアクセスしてログインし、ゲームを開始します。その他のアクション(...)メニューを開き、Clarity Boost option. More information on how to enable Clarity Boost can be found on the Xbox Insiders Reddit.

Clarity Boost is a client-side feature, so don't expect to see it in other browsers. After all, Microsoft wants to keep users in their ecosystem. If nothing else, they now have a legitimate reason to use Microsoft Edge; Clarity Boost will be available to all Microsoft Edge users by next year.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is part of the $15/month subscription service Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The service allows users to download over 400 games to their Xbox console or PC; Xbox Cloud Gaming allows users to stream many of the same games to Android devices and non-gaming PCs. This service is ideal for frequent travelers or users who cannot afford or get an Xbox Series X console or gaming PC. With a solid Internet connection, streaming games on this service works just as well as playing games locally, as Marshall Honorof, senior editor of Tom's Guide, noted in a recent opinion piece, Xbox cloud gaming works so well that it could eliminate the need for gaming consoles.
