Get ready for fast-paced heists and supercar mayhem on the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.

About a year ago, the latest installment in Rockstar's crime/contemporary life parody franchise was removed from Xbox Game Pass the same day Red Dead Redemption 2 appeared on Microsoft's game distribution service. Soon, however, GTA 5 will return to Game Pass and will also be eligible for Xbox cloud streaming if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Currently, neither GTA 5 nor Red Dead Redemption 2 are on Game Pass. Red Dead Redemption 2" was temporarily registered with the service last year, but has since been deregistered. Perhaps it was a way to get people who enjoyed the game to pay for a permanent digital or physical form of the game.

It is unclear what prompted the return to the GTA 5 game pass, but it would be a welcome addition. In a world where we are often instructed to stay indoors, having more games to play is a boon, especially for a game that focuses on satirizing Los Angeles. Furthermore, "GTA 5" is a brilliant game, with a huge number of checkpoints, cars to steal, crimes to commit, and a large portion of LA-like Los Santos to explore. Oh, and you can steal fighter jets, too, for fun.

The version that will be added to Game Pass is a bit of a snag in that it is the regular Xbox One version. This is an enhanced version of GTA V on Xbox 360, but there is no indication that Series X or Series S will be enhanced.

Enhanced versions will be available for Microsoft's new game consoles and PS5, but we won't see them until later this year.

Microsoft also revealed that it will be adding other games to Game Pass, from NHL 21 to the cartoonish cardboard adventure Rain on Your Parade.

And about 50 Xbox games will be playable on Android phones with touch controls. This means that there will no longer be a need to pair the Xbox wireless controller with a smartphone; Xbox touch controls will be available for Sea of Thieves, Gears 5, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Slay the Spire, and Minecraft Dungeons.

In addition, new features will be added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Gears 5, Along Us, and Grounded. The former will receive additional content in the form of a Season 6 update, while Along Us will receive an Airship update and Grounded will receive a photo mode in the single-player game.

In short, Xbox Game Pass is getting better every month. And if you can find a place to buy an Xbox Series X, it's basically a must-have
