Moto 360 Leak just revealed powerful Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 rivals

A thorough review of recent leaks may have uncovered a third-generation Moto 360.

We already knew that three new Moto-branded watches would appear this year thanks to leaks last week. But an enlarged image from another part of the document revealed a fourth, unknown smartwatch. And it may have the power to compete with big players like Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4.

The images are from Motorola's official investor materials (via Reddit user TheMacJezza). The watch is not labeled, but closer inspection reveals the name of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset engraved on the bottom of the watch body.

This is the same chipset found in the TicWatch Pro 3, and while it is not a perfect fitness companion, it offers snappy performance and long battery life. The new Moto 360 is even more interesting because no other smartwatch currently uses this latest chip.

These images also show NFC and wireless charging. These are both useful features on a smartwatch, so it is nice to see them here.

The last Moto 360 was released in 2019 and used the much less powerful Snapdragon Wear 3100 and ran on Google's open source wearable software, Wear OS. It was not manufactured by Motorola itself, but a separate company licensed its name.

If the rumors that the Galaxy Watch 4 will use Wear OS instead of Samsung's own Tizen OS are true, the Galaxy Watch and Moto 360 will be in direct hardware competition. It will be a difficult task for the Moto 360, as rumors and leaks indicate that the Galaxy Watch 4 will include powerful new features such as blood glucose monitoring.

Rebooted in 2019, the Moto 360 was not on par with the best smartwatches around. But Motorola is trying again, perhaps this time with a more muscular processor and a chance to beat the Galaxy Watch and the rumored Apple Watch 7 in features and price.
