The next Fitbit wearable update appears to be a model for children. German site WinFuture has obtained leaked images and specs of the upcoming Fitbit Ace 3.

As can be seen from the included renderings, the Fitbit Ace 3 appears to be less angular and bulky than the current model; the Fitbit unit itself resembles the black and white OLED device attached to the Inspire 2 band, but the casing is much chunky and made of materials designed to withstand shocks and drops. The colors are also bolder, with a choice of black and red or blue and green. [Specs-wise, there is no heart rate tracking yet, but the Fitbit Ace 3 does count steps, as well as track sleep and some sports. The biggest upgrade is battery life, which has gone from 5 days to 8 days. The screen resolution is listed as 240 x 240, but this is clearly at odds with the rectangular display in the rendered image, suggesting that some specs may be placeholders.

The concept of the Fitbit Ace series is less about a regular fitness regime and more about instilling healthy habits from an early age. To this end, the Ace 2 allows parents to set challenges from their family accounts for their children to accomplish with the wearable. Upon accomplishment, a cute celebration animation plays: a rocket takes off, a flower blooms, and a monster celebrates.
