The world's first foldable micro LED TV is here - and it's only4400,000

The last trait one would expect from a 165-inch TV is that it be unobtrusive, and this behemoth from Austrian designer C-Seed does just that

The 7-foot-tall M1 4K 165-inch micro-LED TV folds neatly into five panels when not in use and quietly disappears to the floor You should actually see the one below

C Seed's Adaptive Gap Calibration Technology also makes the boundaries between screens invisible when in use The panel uses 4K Micro-LED technology and supports HDR 10+, so picture quality should be no problem

Before you reach for your credit card, it's worth warning your bank about your upcoming expenses, as these kinds of specs are not cheap Installing this micro-LED set in one's home would require an outlay of $400,000, out of reach for all but the most profligate millionaires

Another reason this TV is so expensive, besides its sheer scale, is its use of micro-LED technology As the name suggests, this uses microscopic LEDs as individual pixels on the screen Each pixel contains red, blue, and green LEDs, which can be combined to reproduce any color you can imagine Combined with millions of other microscopic LEDs, the result is a full 3840 x 2160 image that should provide black levels similar to OLED screens without the risk of burn-in

Micro-LED TV technology is fairly new, and Samsung first demonstrated it in 2018, but it is still intended for commercial-grade displays of 120 inches or larger In fact, Samsung's first commercial panel, The Wall, is said to start at about $300,000 for 146 inches, but it still won't fit in most living rooms (or households)

The good news is that Samsung plans to make its MicroLED products smaller and thus probably less expensive; versions of The Wall will be available this year at 110 inches, 99 inches, and 88 inches, hopefully bringing the price down The Wall will be available in 110, 99, and 88-inch sizes this year, hopefully at lower prices Still, it will be some time before this technology becomes affordable for most homes looking to upgrade
