Unfortunately, one of the main reasons for the shortage of PS5 consoles is due to duffers. These opportunists use bots to scan retailers and purchase as many consoles as possible at once as PS5 inventory becomes available.

Once they have a very attractive console, they sell it at exorbitant prices, often for thousands of dollars; according to Business Insider, one reseller managed to acquire 200 PS5 consoles and sell them for over $40,000.

It may seem silly to buy a PS5 for more than $1,000. But with the Coronavirus outbreak keeping more and more people indoors, it is clear that some PlayStation fans are desperate to get a new console to enjoy.

Fake or not, avoid buying from such resellers; at $499, the PS5 is still a fairly expensive console and does not currently have a huge game library.
