The Alexa vending machine provided me with Coca-Cola energy and it was great

LAS VEGAS -- The two things that keep me fueled at CES 2020 are my enthusiasm for Alexa-enabled devices and copious amounts of caffeine. Coca-Cola married my two obsessions with the all-new Coca-Cola Energy drink served to me by the biggest Alexa speaker I've ever seen. All I had to say was, "[Alexa, order Coke Energy]. Sure enough, a can showed up.

The giant Coca-Cola Alexa Wall has a built-in microphone and speakers. In between telling jokes and looping ASMR-inducing sizzle sounds of opening soda cans, the Alexa Wall sells cans of Coca-Cola Energy. Available in Classic, Zero, and Cherry flavors, the new caffeinated sodas will hit store shelves on January 20. [I was able to sample the new beverage as early as 8 a.m. while talking to Jaideep Kibe, vice president of Coca-Cola Trademarks. Kibe told me a little about the new Coke product.

"Everything we do starts with the consumer," Kibe said. We knew that consumers were looking for an energy drink that tasted like the familiar Coca-Cola. So we took their favorite flavor and added a boost." [It certainly tastes familiar. While sipping the cherry-flavored Coca-Cola Energy, I found it difficult to tell the difference between traditional Cherry Coke and caffeinated Coca-Cola. I've never been a big fan of the taste of the famous carbonated energy drinks, but Coca-Cola Energy is one that I would actually be tempted to pick up in a store.

Sadly, the chatty Alexa Wall is not available for purchase. However, one hopes that voice-activated vending machines will eventually become mainstream.
