Another product will be announced at next week's Samsung Unpacked event. Leaked information has already told us what to expect from the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip Phone. And now we also know more about the earbuds Samsung plans to unveil next week.

It's the Galaxy Buds Plus, which has already been revealed thanks to a leaked ad offering a free pair of wireless earphones to those who pre-order the Galaxy S20. The two leaked information not only confirms the existence of the Galaxy Buds Plus, but also specifies what has changed from the Galaxy Buds that debuted last year.

First, GalaxyBuzz Plus has been confirmed to be here. This was courtesy of Apple's App Store, where a companion app to Galaxy Buds Plus suddenly appeared. Promising "the next level of listening," the Galaxy Buds Plus app iOS app allows users to adjust audio settings, check battery status, and search for wireless earphones. The app works on iPhone 7 and later, so one would expect the Galaxy Buds Plus to do the same.

Leaker Evan Blass tweeted a spec sheet comparing the new earbuds to the previous ones. In the process, the Galaxy Buds Plus specs confirm many of the prior rumors we have heard about this audio accessory. Namely, that it will boast longer battery life and improved call quality over the original Galaxy Buds.

The Galaxy Buds Plus will be priced at $149, $20 more than the standard Galaxy Buds. Here's a closer look at the Galaxy Buds Plus' new features and what you get for that $20 more, based on a spec leak from Blass.

Longer Battery, Shorter Charge Time: The Galaxy Buds Plus is the same size as the original Buds, but the new model has a larger battery. According to the spec sheet, the earbuds alone provide five hours of playback, and when combined with the Galaxy Buds Plus and a charging case, users can expect an extended battery life of nine hours. Talk time increases by 2.5 hours to 7.5 hours with the Galaxy Buds Plus alone, and by 4 hours over the Galaxy Buds to 15 hours when the case is added.

The larger battery also seems to have increased the weight a bit. The new Galaxy Buds weighs 6.3 grams, compared to 5.6 grams for the original Galaxy Buds. That's a difference of only one ounce.

Recharge times should also be faster, with the spec sheet promising 60 minutes of playback on a 3-minute charge. The older Buds needed 15 minutes for 100 hours of playback.

Improved audio: Since call quality was one of the few complaints about the Galaxy Buds, a second outside microphone has been added to the Plus model in addition to the single inside microphone. The original model had only one outside and one inside microphone. The speakers included a woofer and tweeter for two-way dynamic audio.

Spotify-specific controls: the play, pause, skip, and volume options found on the original Galaxy Buds now have new buttons; the Plus version features Spotify controls as part of the earphones' touchpad.

Multi-device support: the Galaxy Buds Plus will be controllable from an iPhone in addition to the Android app that existed for the Galaxy Buds, as evidenced by the appearance of an iOS app. It will also be possible to connect the new Plus model to multiple devices, according to the spec sheet.

New colors: black and white will return as options for the Galaxy Buds Plus, while the original yellow and silver will be replaced by red and blue.

Active noise cancellation, a feature Apple introduced last year with the AirPods Pro, is not mentioned in the spec sheet. This feature is consistent with rumors that the Galaxy Buds Plus will not include it.

We expect the Galaxy Buds Plus to join the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip as part of the February 11 Unpacked event. Other rumors suggest that pre-ordering Samsung's new S20 flagship will include a free pair of Galaxy Buds Plus, which is consistent with what the company has done in past phone launches.
