NEW YORK CITY - Amazon's Alexa will debut in kids' toy rooms later this year, if KidKraft, a 360-degree playset with voice assistant and one of next year's best toys, is any indication: the 2-in-1 Alexa Kitchen and Market, They are betting that parents will not hesitate.

The $299 2-in-1 Alexa Kitchen and Market debuts at Toy Fair 2020 and features RFID sensors and, of course, Alexa. Alexa will explain recipes, make shopping lists, play guessing games, and make puns as children toy with its collection of accessories.

By bringing the playfulness of a kitchen set to a voice-driven toy, KidCraft provides a liaison between the child and the AI.

On the one hand, the experience is screen-free and interactive. Children can enjoy the details of the set and the two-sided setup fosters playtime with friends and siblings. Additionally, while the kitchen set skills are in use, they cannot control smart home devices, ask Alexa for the weather, or do anything else with their voice.

However, there are some concerns that this budding type of toy creates. One cannot help but question the social implications of making Alexa a child's on-demand playmate. Talking to Alexa often requires a bossy dialect and may lead children to expect that they can get whatever they want if they ask.

The 2-in-1 Alexa Kitchen and Market is a significant departure from the once idyllic and simple playtime, but it also seems inevitable. As Alexa becomes a household name, it is expected that every member of the household will know how to use Alexa.
