Powerbeats 4 was suspected to be in development by Apple-owned Beats, and now we have proof.

Beats' latest earphones were leaked by German site WinFuture and will replace the Powerbeats 3, which will celebrate its fourth birthday this year. If the rumors are true, the Powerbeats 4 could offer three times the battery life of the AirPods Pro.

The Powerbeats series touts its charging capabilities, and the Powerbeats 4 is no different. It offers one hour of playback on a mere five-minute charge (this time via Lightning cable, not microUSB like the Powerbeats 3) and 15 hours of Bluetooth wireless playback on a full battery.

In contrast, the AirPods Pro offers 5 hours of standard battery life, or 4.5 hours with noise cancellation enabled.

The exterior design has also changed slightly, but the Powerbeats 4 remains sweat- and water-resistant, just like its predecessor. In the new model, the cable connecting the two earbuds is now part of a flexible wing, making it easier to fit over the top of the ear and creating a cleaner design. As for colors, they are available in black, white, and red, according to images released by WinFuture. [It is a small piece of silicon that powers other wearables like the Powerbeats Pro and AirPods Pro. Devices with this chip will automatically activate Siri and read notifications and messages when they hear voice commands.

We suspected that these new earbuds were on the way. Documents recently filed with the FCC revealed the Powerbeats 4, plus an earphone icon appeared in the iOS 13.4 beta update.

With such detailed leaks, an announcement date is probably not far off. We initially expected Apple's big event to take place this month, where the iPhone 9 would also make an appearance.

However, with the ongoing fear of coronavirus infection and rumors that the iPhone 9 and iPhone 12 will be delayed due to the outbreak, it is possible that the Powerbeats 4 will be delayed.
