Apple's AirPods Pro are useful, but they haven't won any awards for sound quality. So Germany's Sennheiser is again aiming for gold with the Momentum True Wireless 2.

And not only is the company likely to beat Apple in sound quality again, it is also looking to add active noise cancellation without raising the price. That means the Momentum True 2 could justify a $300 price tag over the original version.

According to the press release, the earphones offer "outstanding sound quality" with "Sennheiser's 7mm dynamic drivers" that "produce outstanding stereo sound with deep bass, natural midrange, and clear, detailed highs." According to our Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless review, the original version offered "unparalleled sound in earphone form."

And according to Sennheiser, the Transparent Hearing feature "provides a one-touch blend of external ambient sounds, so you can comfortably carry on a natural conversation without even having to remove your earphones."

The Momentum True Wireless 2's are loaded with the features one would expect at this price: 7 hours of playback on a single charge, and up to 28 hours when charged in the included charging case. This is a significant upgrade over the previous version, which was rated at 4 hours on a single charge, but our tests showed only 3 to 3.5 hours of use. This new case more than doubles the original product's claimed 12-hour extension.

Of course, compatibility with Siri and Google Assistant is also included. The black version will be available in April. A white version will appear "at a later date."
