Ps5 and Xbox Series X were delayed by the coronavirus? this is what we know.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X release date may be delayed from the long-scheduled "Holiday 2020". The reason, not surprisingly, is coronavirus-related issues.

Forbes reports a statement from DFC Intelligence, claiming that inventory shortages and general economic uncertainty due to the coronavirus outbreak may cause the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch to be delayed.

To quote the report: "Even if they do launch, supply is likely to be limited and initial prices could be higher than expected. The economy is currently in a state of unprecedented uncertainty. Even if the situation improves in the coming weeks, the ability to manufacture and launch new high-end gaming systems has already been severely affected."

DFC Intelligence adds that when gaming consoles are launched, they will be in very high demand.

"Demand far outstrips supply, which could increase overall sales in the long run. In addition, adequate attention by the government and the public should assure that this is a relatively short-term crisis."

"The government and the public should be very careful to ensure that this is a relatively short-term crisis.

"The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will both launch with record consumer demand. The challenge facing Sony and Microsoft is to ensure that they release systems that meet expectations. Given the current situation, waiting to ensure an initial product is the wisest option."

With the cancellation of E3 2020, news of a release date or even a launch delay will likely be announced at the online event. Microsoft is hosting a live stream this week related to the Xbox Series X, but we have yet to hear from Sony when specific details regarding the PS5 will be announced.
