PS5 will not be delayed by coronavirus - yet

Despite the worst fears, the PS5 is well on its way to a holiday season 2020 launch. At least according to Sony's PR agency.

According to Dutch website LetsGoDigital, Sony's Amsterdam PR agency BAAS said that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the PS5 will launch on schedule without delay.

Of course, this is no guarantee. The global situation is fluid and there is still a possibility of delay. But the fact that Sony is confident it will meet its target launch date is good news. [Analysts had expected a possible delay for both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. If there are no delays, the supply of consoles may be significantly reduced, making it more difficult to get new hardware at launch.

The PS5 remains a mystery, at least compared to the Xbox Series X. While Microsoft has announced many of the specs and features of the console, all we really know about the PS5 is its name, expected release date, and some internal specs from component suppliers. These features include the presence of ray tracing capabilities for fancier graphics and faster SSDs for storage.

If you can't wait to learn more about the PS5, be sure to stay tuned to Sony's PS5 announcement event on the PlayStation Blog today at 9 a.m. ET, as we will keep you updated on the latest news regarding the PS5.
