Apple just announced two new iPad Pro 2020 models, but they may not be the only professional tablets from Apple According to new supply chain rumors, Apple may launch a third iPad Pro by the end of 2020
The news comes from Digitimes (via AppleInsider) According to the report, "Apple reportedly prefers mini LEDs over OLEDs for mid-sized devices" and plans to release a mini LED iPad Pro by the end of the year
So what are the advantages of a mini-LED display? Mini LED screens have much smaller LEDs than standard LCD displays, allowing manufacturers to control them more finely for deeper blacks, better brightness, and richer contrast This would allow the iPad Pro to essentially have an OLED-quality display (Apple's slate currently uses LCD) in a smaller package for about the same price as the current model [This rumor comes shortly after Apple announced the iPad Pro 2020, which will support the powerful A12Z Bionic chip, an advanced LiDAR scanner for immersive augmented reality (AR), and a new Magic Keyboard with a full touchpad
As for displays, the iPad Pro features 11-inch and 129-inch Liquid Retina screens with P3 wide color and support for refresh rates up to 120 Hz
While it seems unlikely that Apple will release two different versions of the iPad Pro in the same year, the mini LED model may give Apple's famous Retina display an even bigger boost We look forward to testing the current iPad Pro 2020 in the coming months
