In an effort to attract more consumers to its platform amid the coronavirus pandemic, Roku launched its "Home Together" initiative, which includes one month of free content from premium streaming channels such as Showtime and EPIX
However, to receive 30 days of free premium content, users must first register for the respective service using a credit card or other payment method and cancel before the trial period ends
Currently, there are 20 services with a 30-day free trial period through Roku, including Showtime, Epix, Hallmark, Smithsonian, and A&E Crime Central, as well as lesser known channels such as GaiamTV, Screambox, Grokker, ZooMoo Lesser known channels are also included (A complete list can be found at Rokucom)
In response to the coronavirus, many other streaming channels have extended trial periods or offered content for free or before it is otherwise available For example, CBS All Access offers a trial period of one week to 30 days, Sling TV has a 14-day free trial "Quarantine Offer," and Plex Live TV is free for three months
Regardless of what one thinks of Roku's Home Together initiative, we believe that Roku's product is one of the best streaming devices available due to the richness of its content offerings, intuitive interface and voice control
