PS5DualSense too ugly for you? Check out these better designs

The PS5 controller, known as the DualSense, was unveiled yesterday to some consternation from the gaming community. So some enterprising folks have attempted to improve on the two-tone design, with an idea that is both more sensible and somewhat stranger than anything Sony has done.

These designs are by fleshmonk on Twitter (via PS5 News - PlayStation 5) and showcase several alternative dual-sense color schemes. We particularly like the all-black version of this one, which looks a lot like the DualShock controllers the PlayStation series has used in the past.

Fleshmonk also offers some slightly bizarre designs inspired by the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Switch joystick, the PS4 mascot character Knack, and even the famous anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion's EVA Unit 1. It also offers options.

Sony might market a more subdued color or gradient in its own way, as the current DualShock 4 comes in many different colors, including blue, white, red, and gold. Sony itself may not offer more outlandish options, but if you decide to make your DualSense an ironic homage to a rival console or a monument to a horrific piece of Japanese anime history, you have the option of applying your own decals.

The DualSense features a radically different color scheme than previous controllers, but retains the familiar button, touchpad, and analog stick layout of the DualShock 4. The "Share" button has been replaced with a new "Create" button, which is said to offer more options for capturing gameplay. The controller also features a new haptic feedback feature to make gaming more immersive and a built-in microphone for voice chat.

After console designer Mark Cerny's very detailed description of the PS5 hardware a few weeks ago, this controller reveal makes it more understandable to fans when they will be able to actually hold DualSense in their hands, It will be released alongside the PS5 this holiday season, with the Xbox Series X hot on its heels.
