The design of this PS5 is surprisingly different to suit DualSense

Although the PS5 console has yet to be unveiled, an artist has brought the PS5 console to life based on the look of the recently unveiled DualSense controller.

Created by Giuseppe "Snoreyn" Spinelli for LetsGoDigital, the design combines the black and white design of the DualSense with the slanted light bar surrounding the controller's touchpad. The resulting design resembles the PS4's two-tiered structure, but the top corners have been shaved off and replaced with flat edges with blue lighting.

Spinelli designed the main model in an all-white version, but also designed an all-black version to match the traditional PlayStation look. Also new is the row of vents along the bottom for cooling.

On the front are a disk drive and two USB ports, and on the back are various ports for connecting the console to a TV or monitor.

This is a fairly subtle change in shape between generations compared to what Microsoft did with the Xbox Series X compared to the Xbox One. The rectangular box has now been replaced by a square tower-like shape with prominent vents at the top. The PlayStation has always been more shrink-wrapped violet-like than the equivalent Xbox design, and if Sony's actual design is anything like Spinelli's, this will be true for the new generation as well.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to hit store shelves around November 2020. Both consoles have ray-tracing graphics and SSD storage, but the Xbox focuses on graphics power with a more powerful CPU and GPU, while the PS5 has 3D audio, haptic feedback, and resistive triggers built into the controller, The emphasis seems to be on immersion.
