Watch the Simpsons Online: Maggie's Play Date with Destiny Comes to Disney Plus

More Simpsons can now be seen on Disney Plus Titled "Maggie Simpson's Fateful Playdate," the youngest of the Simpsons enjoys a great playdate, but fate (and perhaps her dear old dad) stumbles upon it

It is unclear who voices Hudson, Maggie's playmate in the above illustration The Simpsons creator Matt Groening announced the special's arrival in a playful note posted on Disney Plus' Instagram

Admittedly, the special may not be new to some Maggie Simpson's Playdate with Destiny originally appeared before the Disney and Pixar film Onward (which just appeared on Disney Plus) Another Simpsons mini-feature, Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare, will appear on Disney Plus later this month

We're still waiting for Disney Plus to deliver a non-cropped version of "The Simpsons," which according to Polygon will appear in June 2020 As you may or may not know, "The Simpsons" was only offered in a 16:9 aspect ratio when Disney Plus launched its service, which caused a great deal of criticism The early seasons of "The Simpsons" were produced in a 4:3 ratio, which was perfect for TVs before widescreen TVs became the standard, and cut out the corny jokes on both sides of the screen

Disney Plus finally launched in France on April 7, after arriving in the UK (plus Ireland, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and other countries) on March 24 This is because the Walt Disney Company, at the request of the European Union, has decided to lower the video quality of Disney Plus for the time being

This is to reduce overall bandwidth usage by at least 25% and is intended to reduce the strain on broadband services during the pandemic Of course, Disney is not alone in doing this; Amazon, Netflix, and YouTube (among others) are also following this request

In other Disney Plus news, the service just announced that it has already signed up 50 million users and is well on its way to the 60 to 90 million goal set for 2024, with Netflix (167 million) and Amazon Prime Video (150 million) have far more subscribers, but both are the overwhelming frontrunners, and the latter has all the benefits of Prime membership

Disney Plus has more subscribers than Hulu's 30 million, but the bundling of Disney Plus and Hulu with the addition of ESPN Plus may have helped bring the numbers for both services up together
