The PS5 jet black design shows the Xbox Series X killer we really want

The PS5 comes in a new black-based design. The white design of the dual-sense controller is smart, but the upcoming PlayStation painted in traditional colors also looks right at home.

These renderings, first published on LetsGoDigital (via T3), were designed by the site's long-term collaborator Giuseppe Spinelli, aka Snoreyn. Spinelli recently showed us his all-white design for the PS5, but this time he took a little more liberty, showing us a completely black design with blue LEDs and a metallic logo to complement the console.

Since the PlayStation 2, the traditional color of Sony's game consoles has been all black; the Xbox also often plays in black, but as seen in the revealed Xbox Series X design, the PlayStation emphasized blue while the Xbox emphasized green.

We had assumed that Sony would come out with another black console with the PS5, but the reveal of the black and white DualSense controller has called that into question; Spinelli has changed the controller's color to black in this rendered image, but it is unclear whether Sony seems likely to make the two-tone color the new default. [With E3 2020 cancelled, Microsoft and Sony are rumored to be moving up their next launch event. This is not so important for Xbox, which has already shown us most of what it has to offer. However, since Sony has refrained from showing the design of the console, PlayStation fans are extra excited to see what May will bring.
