The "Call to Unite" livestream is a 24-hour global event featuring 200 celebrities, world leaders, artists and entertainers recognizing our shared humanity and offering support during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic
The "Call to Unite" live stream, which will air Friday through Saturday, aims to support people around the world who are enduring hardships during the pandemic Hundreds of participants will offer performances, prayers, memories, and gifts to inspire everyone to rise from these difficult times with strength and compassion
"Today, billions of people around the world are isolated and anxious because of the COVID-19 pandemic Yet, in this isolated moment, millions of people are rising to the occasion by showing love and support to each other in countless ways," read the event's press release "Call to Unite is a celebration of those acts of humanity and a call to the world to join us in lifting each other up in this moment of need We need each other Now more than ever"
The Call to Unite live stream was organized by Tim Shriver, longtime president and CEO of Special Olympics The lineup includes Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, former President George W Bush, Common, Josh Groban, Jennifer Garner, Questlove, Deepak Chopra, Yo-Yo Ma, Martin Luther King III, Alanis Morissette LeAnn Rimes, Marie Kondo, Jewel, and Charlamagne tha God, among others
Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the COVID-19 relief fund through the event's service partners GiveDirectly and Points of Light
