Fortnite Mobile Controller Support: Here's what you can use

Epic introduced Bluetooth gamepad support for Fortnite on iOS and Android with version 730 early last year; see Epic's full patch notes here

On Android, most Bluetooth pads are supported, including Razer's Raiju, Steelseries' Stratus XL, and Microsoft's Xbox One controller In fact, with the exception of the wired-only Logitech F310, all of the choices on our list of best PC gaming controllers will work, as will 8BitDo's retro-style SN30 Pro+ and the expensive but premium Switch Pro controller

Originally, the iPhone and iPad required a controller that complied with Apple's Made for iOS specification, such as the Steelseries Nimbus or Gamevice grip This was obviously somewhat limiting, since it was not possible to simply use an older Bluetooth pad, as is possible with Android

Fortunately, in mid-2019, Apple added native support for DualShock 4 and Xbox One controllers within iOS with the release of Apple Arcade

Fortnite is designed to automatically disable the phone's vibration when a compatible controller is paired This prevents unexpected notifications from disrupting the rhythm in the middle of a tense match

The 730 patch also introduced a 60 Hz mode for some Android models At launch, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Huawei Mate 20 X, and Honor View 20 were covered, but over time, newer and more powerful Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S20 have joined their ranks

Prior to this update, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR were the only Apple devices optimized to run Fortnite at the full 60 frames per second Today, all current iPhones with Apple's A13 Bionic chip, from the iPhone 11 Pro to the iPhone SE 2020, can run Fortnite equally smoothly

Looking ahead to the next generation of consoles, Epic has already outlined a roadmap for how Fortnite will jump to the PS5 and Xbox Series X The upgrade will take full advantage of Unreal Engine 5, which was demoed in Sony's PS5 teaser stream in mid-May
