Enter the stylish gaming beast, the HP Omen 15 2020, which HP unveiled today (June 2) with a significantly redesigned design aimed at a broader appeal that will resonate with gamers as well as non-gamers.

The Omen 15 2020 is available in Mica Silver and Shadow Black, and has been redesigned with a minimalist look. Gamers need not worry, as full RGB lighting per key is available as an option. But does this model make the best gaming laptop?

The Intel version of the new Omen 15 is available now at HP.com, starting at $909, with a Core i5 CPU, 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. Best Buy should have it, but so far only the AMD version is available.

Speaking of which, the AMD Omen 15 2020 starts at $1,249 at Best Buy and is available for order now; HP.com will have it for the same price on June 10. The $1,249 model includes an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU, and 512GB of SSD storage. There is also a $1,349 model that doubles the memory and storage to 16GB and 1TB, respectively.

The HP Omen 15 22's GPU is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super in a MAX-Q design, with the RTX 2060 used in other SKUs. The entry-level model is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 (4GB), but a 6GB GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is also seen.

CPU choices include AMD's Ryzen 5-4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H, and 10th generation Intel Core i5-10300H and Core i7-10750H. HP's Omen Tempest Cooling Technology with expanded vents and 12 volt fans keeps everything cooler with Omen Command Center optimization, which improves CPU and GPU by up to 17%.

The Omen 15 2020 laptop starts with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 32GB. Storage starts with 256GB of SSD storage each, with options up to 1TB of PCIe SSD. If that is still not enough, the memory and storage can be accessed by removing a Phillips screw on the underside for further customization.

As for ports, there is one USB-C port (SuperSpeed or Thunderbolt 3), three USB Type-A SuperSpeed ports (one with HP Sleep and Charge support), a Mini Display Port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and an RJ-45 Ethernet port.
