The PS5 has been fully revealed, and gamers want to know how much they can expect to pay for it. Thanks to a brief leak from the local Amazon site, we may have the answer.

Leaker and concept designer Ben Geskin has released images of the PS5 store page on Amazon France. According to these images, the price is €499 for the regular PS5 and €399 for the Digital Edition, which translates to $565/447 pounds and $452/358 pounds, respectively, although the PS5 store page currently states that pricing information is "currently unavailable." Geskin's screenshots remain.

For comparison, one analyst sees the Xbox Series X starting at $399; the PS5's starting price is $50 more than this estimate, and $150 more than the basic PS4's launch price, which is not too bad. In a recent interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan said that the PS5's sticker price "emphasizes value as opposed to price"

and that the PS5 will be "a great value proposition.

When the last generation began, the PS4 was $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, which helped drive many sales. This time around, the price difference is likely due to Sony's custom SSD and 3D audio hardware, the former widely praised by developers for removing barriers to quickly loading gaming environments.

The Xbox Series X is believed to be the least expensive console of this generation, but we have yet to get a reliable leaked price for Microsoft's new machine, let alone an official announcement. What has been officially announced is that it has more graphics potential than the PS5 and will offer 12 teraflops of computing power compared to the 10.28 teraflops of the Sony machine. How that will translate into actual performance, however, remains to be seen.

Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be announced much later this summer instead of E3 2020. Sony will host a major PS5 gaming event, with "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" and "Horizon: And Microsoft will respond next month with a showcase of exclusive titles for July.

No details have been revealed yet, including official pricing, additional technical details, or partial reveal of the launch lineup, but both consoles are expected to arrive in time for the holiday season.
