PS5 predicted to destroy Xbox Series X on sale

Many things about the PS5 and Xbox Series X are still unknown, including the price and release date of the next-generation consoles. But still, one group of analysts predicts that the PS5 will come out on top in the so-called "console wars."

Piers Harding-Rolls, research director at Ampere Analysis, has released a report predicting that the PS5 will surpass the Xbox Series X. As of the end of 2024, 103 million units expected to be sold in the four years following the console's launch. Of the consoles, the report predicts that the PS5 will sell 66 million units and the Xbox Series X 37 million units.

Initially, Harding-Rolls predicts that the PS5 will sell 4.6 million units in 2020 and the Xbox Series X 3.3 million units, closing the gap between the two consoles to a reasonable degree. However, the gap is expected to widen as we move into the next generation of consoles.

This is an interesting prediction given the many indications that the Xbox Series X will undercut the PS5 in terms of price. Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan has also hinted that the PS5 will be more about "value" than about achieving a lower price point for the next generation of consoles.

However, the PS5 will likely ride on the success of the PS4, which has sold about 110 million units since its launch in 2013. Therefore, there is definitely a large PlayStation fan base that Sony needs to tap into for the PS5. [Also, with the upcoming release of "Horizon 2: Forbidden West," "Gran Turismo 7," and "Spider-Man: Miles Morales," the PS5 has some strong exclusive games that will keep the Xbox Series X at bay. On the flip side, the Xbox Series X promises comprehensive backward compatibility and a strong suite of services in addition to its superior performance. There is also a small game in development, called "Halo Infinite," that is sure to garner a lot of attention.

Harding Rolls and Ampere Analysis seem to expect the PS5 to be the winner when it comes to shifting the most consoles. However, if both consoles gain market share in the tens of millions, both Sony and Microsoft could be winners.

This is because of the advent of gaming on smartphones and cloud-based game streaming, which is losing its relevance to gaming consoles ...... Most of them work ...... This is appropriate, as many people are saying that they are not. In other words, shifting millions of consoles would show that the appetite for hardware boxes still exists.

Just don't expect the PS5 or Xbox Series X to sell as well as the PS2. Sony's second-generation PlayStation shipped a whopping 155 million units in its lifetime. Harding-Rolls said this is a sign of the times in the world of video game consoles.

"While the market is still large and likely to grow consistently, at least during the next console life cycle, the past decade has proven that even with significant resources devoted to increasing penetration on a global basis, including full-scale entry into a series of additional regions, Sony and Harding-Rolls explains, "The past decade has proven that significant growth in hardware sales for Sony and Microsoft combined has not been achieved, even with significant resources devoted to increasing penetration on a global basis, including full-scale entry into a series of additional geographies.

While the game consoles may not appear to be as popular as they once were, the end is not near for the PlayStation and Xbox. Excitement is building around the PS5 and Xbox Series X, especially after the recent PS5 game showcase, which garnered over 80 million unique views. For us, the "Holiday 2020" launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X is already very close.
