Apple is reportedly working on Apple Glasses And now a new concept has been unveiled that shows how this wearable device could work
Designer Jordan Singer posted the following "glassOS" concept on his website (via 9to5Mac) As an entirely new product, Apple needed a new operating system, so Singer took elements of iOS 14, Apple's new operating system for the iPhone, currently in beta, and transformed it into smart eyewear
One of the key design goals of iOS 14 is to consolidate all the important details users need into a small widget the "smart stack" feature introduced in iOS 14 is also present here, so that only the necessary widgets are displayed when the glasses think they are needed The "Smart Stack" functionality introduced in iOS 14 is also present here
Notifications such as phone calls, text messages, translations, and navigation directions are small and tucked away in the upper right corner to avoid distracting the user, and dark mode is automatically enabled when in a dark place
The glassOS concept shows how incoming calls will be presented to the user, similar to how they drop down from the top of the screen in iOS 14 What is less clear is how the call will be answered My guess is that a tap on the Apple Glass arm, perhaps a double tap, disconnects the call [Singer's concept also features App Clips, Apple's instant app system Glass could detect the presence of an App Clip nearby (perhaps a QR code) and instruct the user to open the iPhone to continue
Siri gets the same treatment, announcing its presence with a simple spherical icon Presumably, it will be able to get answers to questions displayed in view
Apple Glass is expected to arrive in 2023, according to a Bloomberg report, and could include interchangeable arms with different features and an automatic focusing feature that corrects vision problems on the spot without a prescription Also expected is Apple's true VR headset, which is said to arrive in 2022
