Images of the Galaxy Watch 3 taken for certification showed more angles of Samsung's upcoming smartwatch Finally, there is a new promotional video for the Galaxy Watch 3, showing some of its features
One of the leaks is a photo taken by Taiwanese regulatory agency NCC and posted on Twitter by the_tech_guy (via TechRadar), and the other is from an early version of Galaxy Watch 3 firmware discovered by XDA Developers information
The images show the watch from several different angles and back up earlier claims that it has the option of a leather strap, stainless steel face and black trim It also has the option of a plastic strap and titanium face, depending on which size (41mm or 45mm) you choose and whether you want LTE or Bluetooth connectivity, according to earlier leaks
There are also photos of the Galaxy Watch 3's USB charging pad, which can charge the watch at 5W, which was also confirmed in the firmware leak This is the same as the Galaxy Watch Active 2, which is not surprising since 5W is the standard wireless charging speed for smartwatches
In the firmware, Max Weinbach of XDA Developers found evidence of two additional battery capacities for the Galaxy Watch 3 These are the same as the Galaxy Watch Active 2 battery, which is smaller in size than the original Galaxy Watch battery but has a strong battery life of about 2-3 days
Leaked information from the firmware indicates that both watches will feature 360 x 360 OLED displays, the same resolution as the Galaxy Watch Active 2 This will be good news for avid fitness tracker devotees who want the most accurate information possible about heart rate, sleep patterns, and blood oxygen levels
The firmware also reveals a wide variety of new faces, complete with complications to provide the details you are after The new complications are called "informative edges," which display a variety of information on the outer edge of the watch, depending on what the watch deems most relevant at that moment This includes the number of steps taken, battery level, heart rate, calories, and ultraviolet radiation levels, which is a smart way to make full use of the display space
Another interesting note is that the Galaxy Watch 3 will come preinstalled with Microsoft Outlook as its email application, rather than Samsung Email Given the close relationship between Samsung and Microsoft, this is not a big surprise This may be annoying to users who primarily use Samsung Email, as Weinbach does not know whether this version of Outlook will work with other email apps or only with the Outlook app
Finally, there is what appears to be a promo video by Evan Blass @evleaks on Twitter teasing various Galaxy Watch 3 features We can actually see some of the rumored beneficial Edge complications, such as mini weather notifications and heart rate
Samsung is rumored to be holding a Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5, so the Galaxy Watch 3 launch date does not seem too far off the Galaxy Watch 3 will appear alongside other new products such as the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Tab S7 but will likely draw a great deal of interest despite the more high-profile smartphone product, which will appear alongside other new products such as the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2, and Galaxy Tab S7
Hopefully, it will be clear what else Samsung plans to do with the new smartwatch, including its price (probably starting around $400) and the latest version of its proprietary smartwatch software, Tizen OS 55
