Google has just introduced Google Meet integration into its Android Gmail app, allowing users to quickly and easily jump from one inbox to the next video call

The feature has been in development for some time and is now in the beginning stages, as Google announced on the G Suite blog (via Engadget) The update will be made over the next two weeks, so don't worry if you don't see the update on your Android phone yet For example, on my OnePlus 8 Pro, the update has not shown up yet, even though the Gmail app has been updated

We first heard about this coming Gmail and Google Meet app merger last month iOS users already saw this feature released last week, and web app users have been aware of this new tab since the Gmail update in May They were likely aware of it

However, with the introduction of this feature to Android, essentially all smartphone users worldwide can now benefit from this integration, making it more convenient for users who do not have access to a desktop or laptop

While you may not see any changes yet, this update adds a new tab at the bottom of the Gmail app that allows you to join and create meetings It also shows the meetings scheduled for that day in case you need an overview of what's going on

Outside of the app, clicking on the Google Meet link will open Gmail instead of the Meet app

If you don't like tabs taking up valuable screen space, you can hide them from the settings
