Xbox Series X8 Month event was Teased — and we were able to watch Xbox Series S

As part of Microsoft's "Xbox 20/20" strategy launched in May, we are learning new things about the Xbox Series X every month, and Xbox head Phil Spencer has hinted that the big August information session will focus on Xbox Series X backward compatibility He has hinted that.

Spencer has not said a word about the Xbox Series S, Microsoft's theoretically cheaper and less powerful cousin to the Xbox Series X, but some speculation sources have decided to tie the two together anyway and have suggested that "more information on backward compatibility" will lead to "a whole new suggesting (or at least hoping) that it also means the "release of a console. There is a logic to this, though not an easy one.

The information comes from Justine Ezarik's podcast "Same Brain," as reported by IGN; Ezarik, who goes by the name "iJustine" on YouTube, interviewed Spencer on a variety of gaming topics. In it, Spencer said that he plans to discuss more about how Microsoft will optimize older games for the "Xbox Series X" coming next month:

"I'm encouraged to be able to talk more about that," he said. I think we'll be able to talk more about that in August."

Spencer's statement is a simple statement that we will hear more about backward compatibility in August. However, this has led some to speculate

that Microsoft is planning a full-scale event in August, at which the Xbox Series S will be fully revealed. (There is no clear source for this rumor, and it appears to have been amplified by repetition.) Spencer stated that there will be news to share about backward compatibility in August. Sharing news implies an event, and the event could mean the release of a new console.

Yes, this is a very spurious inference. But if gaming websites and social media indicate it, many seem to believe it.

None of this necessarily rules out the possibility of an Xbox Series S being announced next month, but on the surface, backward compatibility news seems to have little to do with a major hardware event. Especially since a big blog post on backward compatibility fits pretty well into Microsoft's overall strategy of "one deep dive a month." We'll know for sure in the next 30 days or so, so stay tuned to Tom's Guide for updates.
