New controller leak by PS5 Black version teasing

Images of a black dual-sense controller were uploaded to Twitter, suggesting that the PS5 may also come in black alongside a two-tone version.

A Twitter user identifying himself as TypicalAsian tweeted three photos showing a black version of Sony's upcoming PS5 controller. However, it is not completely back, with what appears to be a white button, effectively reversing the two-tone color of the official dual-sense controller.

The images look rather rough and should be viewed with some skepticism. Also, the black controller in the photo is most likely from a DualSense prototype before Sony settled on the white color scheme.

The white D-pad, action buttons, and option buttons look rather ugly against the matte black of the controller. The aesthetic is also quite a departure from the well-established, understated look of previous PlayStation controllers.

Nevertheless, the PS5's design is quite different from previous consoles, and even Tom's Guide is divided on the matter. Therefore, there is a good chance that Sony will indeed mix up the PS5's color options, and a black version would seem like the obvious choice.

Sony has stated that the PS5 will be very customizable, suggesting the possibility of more console colors. Leaked photos of what appear to be PS5 side panels also suggest that the side panels are interchangeable, and since a gold-covered edition will be available at the end of the year when the PS5 launches from a company that effectively embellishes new technology, the fact that the PS5 is almost black is the next generation of game consoles' finish will not be the most outlandish of finishes.

By comparison, the all-black Xbox Series X may look rather dull to the PS5, even if it will be released in its current white color scheme. But beauty is only the color of the skin, and we are more interested in how the next-generation consoles will perform and what games such as "Horizon Forbidden West" and "Halo Infinite" have to offer, and how the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be positioned, We will know better when both consoles are released at the end of this year.
