PS5 leak just revealed a huge surprise upgrade

The PS5 may solve one of gamers' biggest complaints about the PS4. Newly leaked details of the PS5 DualSense controller reveal a significantly longer game time before the low battery warning appears.

Tweeter @Galaxy666 reported that he had obtained a PS5 controller and posted four angles of tweets, including a close-up of the DualSense controller's specifications. Most of the details are not in English, but the words "1560mAh" are clearly visible, which @Galaxy666 notes in the caption is the controller's battery capacity.

As originally confirmed in the fine print of Sony's press release, the current DualShock 4 controller's internal battery capacity is 1000mAh.

This means that the PS5 controller's battery could be 50% larger than the previous model and could last longer than the PS4 controller. However, the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller could also cause increased demands on battery life.

We will verify this point once we have the PS5 in hand, but this report is consistent with what Reddit user viper_on_fire claimed last week, that the DualSense should last about 3-4 hours longer than the DualShock.

And as I can attest, this is about as long as I have seen the DualShock last on the PS4.

This increase in battery size would be a nice benefit for the PS5 controller. On the other hand, Xbox Series X controllers will still ship without an internal battery, forcing customers to frequently purchase AA batteries or a charging kit.

Gamers I know are divided on whether to go with replaceable batteries or rechargeable controllers. The former group appreciates the ability to quickly refuel the controller, while I am in the latter group and would like less reason to spend money on batteries (which also seems wasteful). I also don't mind needing a break, though.
