Xbox Series X Interface revealed - here are all the key features

With the launch of the Xbox Series X imminent, Microsoft has released a preview of what to expect from the new console, giving prospective buyers an idea of what they can expect when they boot up the console. While the user interface of the new Xbox is clearly different from what we have become accustomed to, there are some elements in common with the previous UI.

In a new official post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft details the user interface of the new Xbox experience. Overall, Microsoft states that the colorful new redesign is intended to be faster, "friendlier, and more visually appealing."

The new UI is available across the Xbox ecosystem, including the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass on PC, and Xbox mobile apps. Some changes include screen elements designed to be easier to read and understand at a glance, such as more readable text, new illustration styles, fonts, and different tile shapes; the majority of the UI will feature a similar layout, but in Microsoft's words, Navigating is intended to be quicker and "more focused," allowing users to quickly and easily seek assistance with game-related questions as needed.

The new UI also focuses on speed, as both the Xbox Velocity Architecture and Quick Resume technology help launch games more quickly than ever before. According to Microsoft, the home screen will load more than 50% faster when the system is first booted, and loading when returning to the home screen from a game will also be nearly 30% faster.

These enhancements are optimized to use 40% less memory than previously required, which should be a boon to players given that the Xbox menu has always been a bit slow, despite repeated iterations.

The new Microsoft Store has also been sped up across Xbox devices. According to Microsoft, app launch times have been reduced to "about 2 seconds," navigation has been updated, and browsing and searching for what you want has been improved.

A new Xbox mobile app will also be available for players who want to carry their Xbox friends list with them. Microsoft promises better integration with cell phones in addition to the "social experience on Xbox." Game clips and updates can be shared from the console, and they will automatically appear in the mobile app so that they can be shared on social media, for example, or messages and launch parties can be managed and sent.

Some of these updates will roll out in the "coming weeks," but the real party will take place in November, when the Xbox Series X is scheduled to launch. Microsoft plans to "celebrate milestones" in the Xbox user experience journey with the debut of the new console, which is as specific a release date as we have right now.

We are still awaiting confirmation on the Xbox Series X's price, release date, possible launch bundle, and much more additional information.
