The PS5 game line-up is "the best I've ever seen" and more obvious things are coming up

If the PS5 has a great launch library, you may want to buy it as soon as it launches. If not, I'd be willing to hold off until at least next year. The only problem is that the PS5 is about three months away from launch, and we still don't know what scenario to expect.

Recently, a Sony executive claimed that the PS5 will have "the best lineup in PlayStation history," which sounds promising. However, until we get a comprehensive list of the games that will be released with the PS5, we will not be able to evaluate his statement.

The information comes from an article by GamesIndustry.biz, in which journalist Christopher Dring interviewed Eric Lempel, senior vice president and head of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment The article is based on a discussion of the issue of dual-licensing. The discussion was wide-ranging, covering everything from the functionality of the dual-sense controller to the difficulties of marketing a new game console in the midst of a pandemic. The most intriguing information, however, was told at the very end.

"The content coming in the launch window and beyond is incredibly exciting. Between Worldwide Studios Group and our various publisher partners around the world, we believe this will be the best lineup in the history of PlayStation." We've released some of the content, and of course there will be more to come, but it's incredibly exciting to see developers engage with the platform and create new experiences not only with known IPs, but also with unknown IPs. It's incredibly exciting for developers to be able to engage with the platform and create new experiences with known IPs as well as unknown IPs.

There are several different arguments being made here, the most salient being that the PS5 will have the "best" launch window lineup of any PlayStation console. What exactly that means (specifically, is it the launch date, within a month of launch, or three months?) is up for debate, but it remains a bold claim as little is known yet about what games will be bundled with the PS5 at launch.

In terms of games that will be exclusive to the PS5 at launch, we have "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" and "Astro's Playroom". The former is standalone expansion content, while the latter will be pre-installed on each PS5 and serve as a sort of playable tech demo; Bugsnax is a colorful and strange adventure/exploration game that will be available on both PS5 and PS4. Godfall, a loot-filled action/RPG, is another exclusive title slated for the PS5 launch window, but will also be available on PC.

Other third-party titles available for PS5 include "Assassin's Creed Valhalla," "NBA 2K21," "Outriders. Many current console games, such as "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Marvel's Avengers," will also have PS5 versions, but it is unclear if these will be released at the same time as the new console.

Comparing and contrasting past PlayStation launches, one can see why the PS5 may take the "best" crown: the PS1, PS2, and PS3 all had fairly poor launch libraries, and most of the good games released with the PS4 were were released by third-party studios.

Still, Rempel's "more to come" comment could spark further speculation. Does he mean that Sony will announce more launch titles between now and the 2020 holiday, or does he simply mean that the library will steadily build between the PS5 launch window? Neither scenario is particularly likely, but it wouldn't hurt to have one or two more PS5 Day One exclusives.
