Now, before you panic and decide to buy an Xbox Series X, the listing discovered by GamePro is likely just a placeholder price, as the PS5 is expected to cost around $499. The Digital Edition, which does not come with a Blu-ray drive, is also expected to be much cheaper, around $400 to $450.

Sony has yet to reveal the price of its next-generation game console. Microsoft has not revealed either, so the two companies may be playing a game of cat and mouse when it comes to revealing the price of their game consoles. Sony seems poised to focus on selling a large number of PS5 consoles with next-generation games in mind, while Microsoft wants to build an Xbox ecosystem that supports game streaming through Project xCloud.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X bring many next-generation technologies to console gaming, including AMD's latest CPU and GPU architecture and support for ray tracing. Another interesting point is that the PS5 will feature an 825GB super-fast SSD, a technology that is not commercially available at this time. While this may not seem like a lot of storage capacity given that the current PS4 Pro has 1TB of hard disk storage, the fact that it uses next-generation SSD technology is compelling.

However, some gamers may want to store a variety of games on the PS5. From what we know so far, the PS5 is scalable with NVMe SSDs, whereas the Xbox Series X requires its own storage card.

This means that while the PS5 may have a model with expandable storage capacity, it may also be upgraded later. Therefore, the idea of a very expensive 2 TB PS5 console seems a bit off the mark.

The PS5 is expected to be released in November, so more information about the model and price will likely come in before then. For now, the PS5 looks like it will be expensive, but with games like "Horizon Forbidden West" and "Gran Turismo 7" on the horizon, it may prove to be well worth the price.
