Forget the Galaxy Note 20 - This Samsung phone has a crazy 7,000mAh battery

Everyone wants long battery life, whether buying a flagship phone or saving money on a cheaper handset. And Samsung may have just rolled out a phone that could scratch the itch of those who crave the best cell phone battery life.

That's the Samsung Galaxy M51, a sub-$450 phone. Samsung has included a 7,000 mAh battery in this new mid-range device.

To put this eye-popping 7,000 mAh size into context, the newly released Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra offers a 4,500 mAh battery, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra set the previous standard with a 5,000 mAh power pack It set the bar. The latter phone lasted nearly 12 hours in our battery tests, while the Note 20 Ultra lasted a respectable 10 hours and 26 minutes.

Among recent phones, the Moto G Power produced the best results: the Moto G Power lasted more than 16 hours in our battery test, using a 5,000 mAh power pack and surfing the web on the phone until the power ran out. A larger battery does not automatically translate into longer test times, but with a 7,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy M51 would be a better choice for the Moto G Power.

There's just one catch: the Galaxy M51 appears to be available only in Germany, where you can pre-order the device for €360. Samsung has not stated when (or if) the Galaxy M51 will be available in other markets, such as the U.S.

. In addition to Samsung's promised two days of battery life on a single charge, the Galaxy M51 will support 25W fast charging. That alone is impressive, but so are the phone's specs, at least considering its status as a mid-range option: powered by a Snapdragon 730, a variant of the chipset found in the Pixel 4a, with 6GB of RAM and expandable 128GB storage The device is also equipped with. [The Galaxy M51 also features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a quad camera array on the back, centered around a 64MP main camera. It also has a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro lens. The additional 5MP camera supports depth sensing, and the front selfie camera is 32MP.

It remains to be seen what markets the Galaxy M51 will reach beyond Germany, or whether Samsung will bring its 7,000 mAh battery to the US with another device.
