The launch of AMD Big Navi looks Imminent - Watch out, Nvidia RTX3080

With Nvidia having taken the covers off the GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070, AMD plans to fight back with Big Navi graphics cards. And it looks like it will be revealed shortly.

This is due to an Easter egg discovered by streamer GinaDarling in Fortnine: "Something big is coming to the AMD battle arena. Given that many rumors have suggested the arrival of AMD's powerful next-generation GPUs, and given the use of the word "big," it seems likely that this is a teaser for the reveal of Big Navi.

According to our colleagues at Tom's Hardware, if you enter the passcode into the in-game terminal where the Easter egg is located, you will see the number "6000". This would seem to suggest that Big Navi is heralding the arrival of the Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards, which will either supersede or replace the RX 5000 series based on the previous generation first-generation RDNA architecture.

For some time, AMD has been said to be developing an "Nvidia killer" graphics card called "Big Navi"; Big Navi is expected to use AMD's second-generation RDNA graphics architecture. This is the same RDNA 2 GPU technology found in the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Big Navi will feature a GPU based on a 7-nanometer process node, promising more power and efficiency. It will also be up to 50% faster than Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, according to leaked information so far.

However, there are three graphics cards in Nvidia's new GeForce lineup that outperform the RTX 2080 Ti. This means that AMD Big Navi will be up against Nvidia's new graphics cards, and they will be much more powerful than expected.

So for Big Navi to compete with Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 3000 series, it may have to pull something special out of its GPU hat. Alternatively, it could offer a high-performance graphics card at a much lower price than Nvidia's new GPUs, making it an attractive purchase for those who do not need the enormous power that the GeForce RTX 3080 promises.

AMD has long been a competitor in terms of cost performance, going up against Nvidia in graphics cards and Intel in processors. As such, Big Navi will be able to do the same with its next generation graphics cards.

We expect Big Navi to be unveiled this fall. And this Easter egg may indicate an earlier launch. In any case, even before the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the near 2020 will be a very interesting time for PC gaming
