Now that Nvidia has unleashed its RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090 graphics cards on the world, it's AMD's turn to fight back; AMD has just announced a series of October launch events, including a showcase to reveal the highly anticipated AMD Big Navi GPU
AMD confirmed the upcoming announcement events in a tweet (spotted by TechRadar), stating that the company will unveil the Zen 3 CPU on October 8, followed by the RDNA 2 graphics card on October 28
A series of additional videos by AMD CEO Lisa Su and the official Radeon RX Graphics account provide a bit of additional information The former shows off the Zen 3 logo with the tagline "A new journey begins," while the latter calls RDNA 2 "a breakthrough gaming architecture"
AMD's upcoming graphics card, often referred to in rumors and leaks as the "AMD Big Navi," could pose a serious threat to Nvidia and could offer impressive graphics performance at a much lower price than its competitors One leak points to it being up to 50% faster than Nvidia's RTX 2080 Ti, but other rumors claim a more modest improvement [The RDNA 2 event comes on the heels of last week's announcement of Nvidia's Ampere line, which consists of the flagship RTX 3080 ($699), the entry-level RTX 3070 ($499), and the very powerful RTX 3090 ($1,499) The RTX 3080 looks like the card to get for optimal 4K gaming, while the 3090's astounding performance promises up to 8K performance at a smooth 60fps for those with the right gear (and wallet) [If AMD offers a card on par with the RTX 3080 or 3070 at a lower price, we could be in for a very interesting GPU battle this fall Console gamers also have reason to take notice, as AMD's RDNA 2 architecture will also be featured in the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles due out this fall
