Ubisoft Forward recap: Prince of Persia, Scott Pilgrim, Immortal and more

Today's Ubisoft Forward conference was a bit shorter and less ambitious than the one in July, but it did feature some medium-sized announcements and a deep dive into games that have come a long way since we first saw them.

What tied Ubisoft Forward together today was a sense of nostalgia." I'm sure you've played it before, but I bet you'll want to play it again." For more, see "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake," "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Complete Edition," Sam Fisher's entry in "Rainbow Six Siege," "Watch Dogs Legion Aiden Pierce's appearance in Watch Dogs Legion.

In case you haven't seen it, the September Ubisoft Forward was about 45 minutes of trailers and developer interviews for a half dozen upcoming Ubisoft games and expansions. You can see them all below:

From new releases to highly anticipated remakes, here are the main things announced at Ubisoft's September show.

Immortals Fenyx Rising (formerly Gods and Monsters) took the lead role, with an extended trailer, developer interviews, and a gameplay demo. The game tells a rather comical story, narrated by Zeus and Prometheus, as a hero named Phoenix from ancient Greek mythology. It is partially inspired by the mythology part of "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" and, by the looks of it, partially inspired by "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game will be released on December 3.

"Immortals" is a completely new IP, but most of the rest of the conference focused on existing IPs; Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is just that: on January 21, 2021, the player puts on the Prince's sandals They slip into them and team up with Princess Farah to embark on a time-traveling platform adventure that looks much the same as the game players enjoyed in 2003, but with improved graphics and smoother gameplay.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Complete Edition is another game that fans have been asking for. The popular dot-picture fighting game debuted on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010, but after it was delisted in 2014, fans were unable to find it anywhere through legitimate means. The Complete Edition adds several new playable characters, but its biggest selling point is that players finally have a chance to buy one of the most offbeat and colorful multiplayer games of the 2010s again.

Sam Fisher and Aiden Pierce are just a few of the larger games: "Rainbow Six Siege" and "Watch Dogs Legion," respectively. Fisher is called Zero and will appear in Rainbow through the expansion Operation Shadow Legacy. Pierce, on the other hand, will be one of the playable characters in Watch Dogs Legion if you have a season pass or purchase an early DLC pack.

It's easy to criticize companies that go against fan nostalgia, but the fact is that we are about to enter a whole new console generation, and in the midst of a global pandemic. It's not hard to see why it might be a relief to return to familiar faces before embarking on the next something in the gaming world.
