Not too much is yet known about the OnePlus Watch. However, one of its key design elements may have turned up.

Max J., a leaker who regularly provides accurate information about OnePlus products, claims that the OnePlus Watch will have a round face, unlike the segment-leading Apple Watch 5.

Max J. had attempted to leak this information a day earlier in this tweet. Unfortunately, his image was too subtle for his followers to understand.

The round face means that OnePlus is aiming for something like a traditional wristwatch or Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, not something unique like a square Apple Watch or fitness tracker. Apple Watch 6 is Sept. 15 event and is expected to appear within the next week, but rumors have not indicated that Apple will change to a circular design.

It also means that wearable devices like the Oppo Watch and Vivo watch, both of which are owned by BBK Electronics, the parent company of OnePlus, will not appear. Both use a rectangular design rather than a round shape, but that does not mean they will not share components and features with OnePlus.

For example, the processor and operating system: the Oppo Watch runs on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 and Google's Wear OS, and the newly released smartwatch will use the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset The newly released smartwatch is expected to use the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset, but the OS is likely to remain the same.

In 2020, OnePlus has significantly expanded its product range. Not only did the company launch the OnePlus Nord as its all-new mid-range smartphone, but it also debuted the company's first truly wireless earbuds, the OnePlus Buds.

Looking at the usual schedule, the OnePlus 8T, a mid-life refresh of the existing OnePlus 8, is expected to arrive around October. Therefore, OnePlus may also unveil the Watch on this occasion. Otherwise, OnePlus' next event will be the OnePlus 9 series next April.
