The Apple event is scheduled for next week, and word is that we will have to wait another month to see Tim Cook unveil the iPhone 12. But if that wait seems too long, a new video from EverythingApplePro will help a little.

The video does not show the entire terminal. But assuming it's legitimate - and it certainly looks that way from the other leaks we've already seen - we can see a few things in terms of design and features.

First and most obvious is that the shell finish is similar to the current iPhone 11 Pro, with the stainless steel edges and matte glass back plate carried over from generation to generation. The camera array is also familiar, with three large circles for the main lens arranged in a triangular pattern in the upper left corner of the device.

What is different is that the number of small circles has doubled to two. One of them is an LED flash, as on all iPhones of the past decade, but the second is likely a cutout for the iPhone 12's LiDAR sensor. This is interesting, because some rumors suggested that distance-measuring technology could be reserved for the iPhone 12 Pro Max

. According to various leaks, the LiDAR sensor uses time-of-flight data to more accurately measure distances to objects. This feature will reportedly help create better looking portraits, as well as provide better autofocus and better low-light performance. In addition, like the iPad Pro's LiDAR sensor, this technology should enhance the experience of the growing number of iPhone AR apps.

There is not much to be gained from the simplified chassis other than the novelty of seeing the iPhone from the inside: the SIM tray has been moved to the lower left of the device, and there appears to be a new notch on the right side that may house the 5G antenna.

The iPhone 12 Pro we are seeing here is just one of four iPhones Apple is reportedly launching later this year: the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max should be expected.

All four iPhone 12 models should feature Apple's new 5nm A14 Bionic processor, while the Pro version will have a telephoto camera and the aforementioned LiDAR depth sensor. Unfortunately, the latest information suggests that the 120Hz display on the iPhone 12 Pro model has been discontinued.

The latest rumors suggest that an iPhone-only event will be held in October, completely separate from next week's Apple Watch 6-focused launch event. Apple typically bundles all its hardware into one September event, but the coronavirus has muddled things up to the extent that this seems unrealistic for 2020.
