"Godfall" promises "loot slasher" action in a colorful, moving fantasy environment as a PS5 launch title. A new 4K trailer detailing the combat also shows that it will be a treat for the eyes as well.
The two-minute trailer shows how "Godfall" blends savage melee combat with fluid dodging and rolling, along with explosive graphic effects that seem to take full advantage of the PS5's 10.28 teraflops of graphics power
The battle is on.
Combat is swift and weighty, much like the combat in 2018's God of War, with multiplayer elements. Also, the entire game appears to be running at a fairly smooth 60 frames per second, although it is difficult to be sure from the YouTube video.
It could be argued that "Godfall" does not appear to be a huge leap forward in graphical fidelity compared to games that push the limits of the current PS4 hardware, such as the aforementioned "God of War," "The Last of Us 2" and "Red Dead Redemption 2" It does not. However, there is a lot going on in the combat trailer, from the breadth of detail in the colorful fantasy environments to the reflections on surfaces to the particle effects that explode across the screen with each successful melee attack.
And this is one of the best ways to quantify the power of next-generation consoles: while the graphical leap from PS3 and Xbox 360 to PS4 and Xbox One will not be realized, the on-screen environments and effects will be much richer.
Combined with the high-end haptic feedback expected from the PS5's dual-sense controller and Sony's new immersive 3D sound, even games based on far-flung fantasy settings will feel more real than ever!
[16] [17] "The game is a realistic experience."Godfall" is not a PS5 exclusive title and will also be released on PC. However, there is no mention of an Xbox Series X release, which could mean that "Godfall" is a timed exclusive title for the PS5. If so, Sony would be adding another major game to the PS5.
By comparison, the list of Xbox Series X exclusives is likely to be a bit thin, especially now that "Halo Infinite" is not a launch title for Microsoft's next-generation console.
