Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080 seems to be sold out at every store, but some lucky people have gotten their hands on this new graphics card and are selling it for tens of thousands of dollars on eBay.

One eBay listing for the RTX 3080 had bids in excess of $80,000. This was for a $699 graphics card. eBay apparently stepped in to stop these crazy listings, but not before Rock Paper Shotgun discovered this crazy listing.

We decided to search eBay ourselves for a GeForce RTX 3080. And lo and behold, we found a listing for the graphics card at a rip-off price.

Some of these listings at least appear to have the RTX 3080 available for shipping. However, some are selling pre-order slots at prices well in excess of $1,000. Clearly, the buying interest in the GeForce RTX 3080 is so high that some people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for it.

Given that it outperforms the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which started at $999 at launch, it may not be too surprising that some avid PC gamers are willing to pay a hefty sum for the RTX 3080. However, we recommend not doing so and holding back a bit.

For starters, we've put together a handy page of retailers selling RTX 3080 graphics cards and potential GPU deals; rather than risk getting ripped off by eBay sellers, we recommend using this page and bookmarking official dealers

Next, we will provide you with a list of the official dealers.

Second, the RTX 3090 will be available on September 24. So if you are spending more than $1,000 for a GPU, a $1,499 graphics card may be worth considering. If your gaming demands are not as high, the $499 GeForce RTX 3070 will be available in October and still promises to outperform the RTX 2080 Ti.

Third, comes the AMD Big Navi, the Radeon RX 6000 series, in which AMD promises a high-end graphics card that can compete with the RTX 3080. Leaks indicate that it may be a bit slower, but the price may be more competitive.

And finally, Nvidia and its card partners seem to be working hard to get the RTX 3080 back in stock. So you may want to wait a little longer before trying to find an RTX 3080. eBay's route puts you at the mercy of disreputable sellers, and you may not get a warranty if you get into trouble.

If finding the RTX 3080 has soured your view of PC gaming, pre-orders for the Xbox Series X will open on September 22; PS5 pre-orders are currently available at many retailers, but you may have trouble securing a console.
