Amazon is done. Walmart and Target have announced massive sale events to draw shoppers away from Amazon Prime Day. It's not the first time Amazon's rivals have competed with the e-commerce giant, but with Black Friday 2020 approaching, the stakes are higher than ever.

On Monday, Amazon announced that Prime Day will take place on Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14. Later that day, Wal-Mart announced a "Big Save" event. Here is what they had to say.

The Walmart Big Save event will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 11 and run through Thursday, October 15. The five-day event will feature deals on electronics, home, toys, beauty, fashion, and more.

Orders of $35 or more will receive free two-day shipping, and some items will qualify for free NextDay delivery. (In-store pickup is also available). Deals confirmed to launch during Walmart's event include:

According to a Walmart spokesperson, there will be no special pricing for Walmart Plus members at this event; Walmart Plus is a program designed to compete with Amazon Prime a $98 annual subscription designed to compete with Amazon Prime. Target intends to go head-to-head with Amazon on October 13 through October 14, the same day as Prime Day. This will be the kickoff event for Target's Black Friday sale, which is set to begin on November 1.

During Target Deal Days, "hundreds of thousands of items" will be available for sale. Retailers say consumers can expect twice as many deals as last year.

Shoppers can find deals on electronics, household items, necessities, toys, beauty products, and more. Nearly all deals are available through Target's contactless Drive Up and Order Pickup. Many deals also qualify for same-day delivery via Shipt. According to Target, some deals will be available as early as October 5.

Earlier this summer, Target announced that its Black Friday sale would begin on November 1, offering about one million more deals than the previous year during October and December.
