How to watch OnePlus8T launch events: Date, time, and What to expect

The OnePlus 8T debuts today, and October is traditionally the month in which OnePlus launches its updated flagship phone, and despite all the trouble and confusion the world has experienced this year, the company has managed to keep that tradition alive.

There has been a mix of official and unofficial rumors about the OnePlus 8T, some from leakers and some from forum posts by the company's founder, Pete Lau. Details are still scarce, but we do know that the OnePlus 8T's super-fast charging and 120Hz display are the most exciting features.

Here's how to watch the OnePlus 8T event live and what else we can expect from the company during its big unveiling.

OnePlus will hold its 8T reveal event on October 14 at 7AM PST/10AM EST/3PM BST. That means it's just a matter of a few hours before the show begins.

As with the OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus Nord, this will be another virtual presentation. However, unlike the Nord, where the presentation prioritized augmented reality, the 8T is expected to feature a more traditional keynote.

The event can be viewed on the OnePlus website and also on the OnePlus YouTube channel. The live stream is currently available for viewing, but currently only has placeholder images with a countdown. As noted above, the show starts today at 7am PST/10am EST/3pm BST.

If you want to do something a little different, you can visit OnePlus World and play a mini-game (for a chance to win an 8T) or watch the event with others in the virtual viewing room.

OnePlus 8T

One of the OnePlus 8T's big new features is its 120Hz display, previously limited to the OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8's enhanced 90Hz panel makes social media feeds more smoother scrolling through social media feeds.

The most significant feature, however, is the 65W fast charging. It promises to fill the phone to 40% full in just 10 minutes and fully charge in 30 minutes. This would be very useful if you are short on time but need to refill a dying cell phone.

Apart from this, one should also note the 32MP front camera and four rear cameras. According to leaked information, it should be a quartet of 48MP main, 16MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro, and 2MP portrait sensors.

There are rumors that the OnePlus 8T will use the same standard Snapdragon 865 chip as the OnePlus 8 series, although there are also rumors that it will have the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset. There is also talk that the 8T may only have 8GB of RAM, so the original OnePlus 8 phone, which had a 12GB option, may offer better performance than the new phone.

OnePlus Buds Z earphones

At the OnePlus Nord launch, OnePlus revealed the OnePlus Buds True Wireless earphones. The OnePlus Buds Z may appear at this 8T launch.

The images suggest that these "Buds" will have silicone tips rather than the fixed design of the original Buds. These are also rumored to be cheaper than the OnePlus Buds, offering slightly smaller drivers and shorter battery life; the OnePlus Buds are priced at only $79/79 pounds, meaning the Buds Z will be very cheap.

OnePlus Nord 10 5G

The website mentions a "stunning new Nord edition" along with multiple phone rumors, leading one to believe that the Nord will also be announced at the 8T event. Since the original OnePlus Nord is not yet available in the U.S., we would like to see that handset or one of the two new handsets reportedly in production launched on a wider scale.

Both of the two rumored Nords are said to be cheaper than the current one, which sells for about $500. The Nord N10 5G is said to be priced under $400, but will be powered by a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 6 series chipset. It should also still have a nice smooth display, especially given its price, since OnePlus has said it never wants to sell a phone with a refresh rate below 90 Hz again.

Another possibility is a new budget device, the OnePlus Clover, which will cost around $200. This would be underpowered compared to its sibling, but instead boasts a chunky 6000mAh battery, which would be good for users who want their phones to last as long as possible, rather than setting benchmark records.
