iPhone12 just killed these accessories, but there is good news

The iPhone 12 was finally unveiled to the world yesterday, and among the new features, Apple is also telling us that it will not ship with EarPods or charging adapters. This sounds confusing and like a bad decision, but it may not be as bad as you think.

MacRumors first spotted Apple's USB-C 20W power adapter for $19, down from $29 for the previous 18W adapter. However, for a small additional fee, you can purchase the best charger Apple has to offer.

The 20W charger is still included in the iPad Air box, but not in all iPhone 12 models. Older iPhone models that Apple still has in stock will also lose their chargers, and those are the iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE.

All iPhone 12 models will now include a USB-C to Lightning cable, which was previously only included with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. This means that the majority of existing iPhone users will still have to use the old cable with the iPhone 12, since Apple's other chargers use the USB-A connector instead. Unless you own another charger with a USB-C port, whether made by Apple or a third party, the inclusion of the cable in the iPhone 12 box is kind of pointless.

According to Apple's presentation, the decision to remove the charging brick and EarPods from the iPhone box was to reduce waste and environmental impact. In addition, the iPhone box will be very slim, making it easier to ship more products at once and reducing vehicle emissions.

However, other rumors suggest that it was a cost-cutting measure to compensate for the cost of the 5G capability in the A14 Bionic chipset. Furthermore, cynics may feel that the fact that a charger will need to be purchased separately in the future is a move that will also help Apple's bottom line.

The iPhone 12 line will be released in two phases. The basic iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, both 6.1", will be available for pre-order starting October 23; the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, 5.4" and 6.7" respectively, will be available on November 13 instead.

All four models feature Ceramic Shield OLED displays, 5G-compatible chipsets, and support MagSafe wireless charging, but the two Pro models introduce a new LiDAR depth sensor for improved special photography effects.
