I already knew the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra was a great phone, but now I have even more reason to like it. And I have even more reason to be nervous about the iPhone 12, thanks to DxOMark.

The DxOMark test has become the industry standard for evaluating smartphone cameras, and now the company has branched out into displays as well. The tests have already been completed and found that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has the best display available today.

To be clear, DxOMark has not yet tested the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro, but the Note 20 Ultra outperformed the iPhone 11 Pro. We will have to see the results once Apple's new models are evaluated.

Not content with just benchmarking smartphone cameras, DxOMark decided to help consumers decide which smartphone display best suits their individual needs. According to the company, basic display specs alone do not tell us much about how everything will actually perform. [Therefore, the DxOMark test aims to answer key questions about phone use, with more than 400 measurements and 20 hours of perceptual evaluation, culminating in six subscores that evaluate the display in a variety of applications. Thus, in addition to the overall score, evaluation scores for legibility, color, video, motion, touch, and artifacts are also obtained. All are scored on a 100-point scale, with the higher score clearly indicating better performance in that area.

So far, nine phones have been tested and ranked as follows:

Naturally, these rankings will change as DxOMark evaluates more phones and newer models become available. the OnePlus 8T and iPhone 12 Pro Max are coming soon, there may be competition for the top spot.

DxOMark is known for its camera tests, but it needs to adapt to the times if it is to remain a reliable company for measuring camera performance. For this reason, DxOMark's camera scoring system has been updated to be more comprehensive. Mainly to take into account new camera technologies, 80% of the test plan has been changed.

While previous camera tests were only for photos and videos, the 2020 update will test consistency, reliability, and a variety of other camera performances. These new criteria include zoom smoothness, HDR, preview accuracy, etc.
