Samsung Galaxy S21 leak just revealed a stunning "blade bezel" design

Samsung's Galaxy S21 may look very similar to the iPhone 12.

The bezel may not be the most glamorous part of a smartphone, but it can still have a huge impact on how a smartphone looks and make the display appear more immersive. That is why it is interesting to see these new patents and rumors.

First up is a tweet from leaker Ice Universe. He discusses bezels here, specifically that all sides will be the same width, whereas on the Galaxy S20 the bottom bezel was noticeably thicker than the other bezels.

All three models in the Galaxy S20 series have slightly curved displays, while the new Galaxy S20 FE has a flat panel. From the tweet, it seems that the FE was the first indicator of Samsung's new direction, and the S21 and S21 Plus will reportedly also feature flat displays.

Curved screens are especially useful on larger phones to make them fit more easily in the user's hand, which is why IU claims that the S21 Ultra, which is supposed to be the largest phone in this series, like the Galaxy S20 Ultra, will keep its curved display, This is likely why.

Related to this are new Samsung patents on "blade bezels" found by LetsGoDigital. These patents detail a very thin but flat edge for smartphone displays, rendered on behalf of LGD by digital artist Snoreyn.

At first glance, the design is reminiscent of the newly unveiled iPhone 12. However, no camera notch or punch hole is seen.

There have been several rumors of an upcoming model with a selfie camera under the display. This has been specifically rumored for the Galaxy S21, which in theory means that it is not necessary to sacrifice screen space or image quality in order to have a front-facing camera. However, achieving that is a difficult technical challenge, and we have seen leaks that point to Samsung's inability to successfully implement an under-display camera for the S21 lineup.

Samsung tends to release Galaxy S series phones every February. Recent rumors suggest that the S21 could debut in January.
